Debating Club (Years 5 – 6)

Tues – Wed, 4 – 5 July 2017 at Kings

Tues – Wed, 11 – 12 July 2017 at Shore

(North Sydney)

This two day course for students with some debating experience allows them to consolidate their knowledge, hone their debating skills and gain exposure to interesting and pertinent topics.  This course is recommended for students who:

  • are already part of their school's debating team, and have experience in competitive interschool debates;
  • have previously attended our Introduction to Debating course; or
  • have already attended Debating Club previously, and want to come back for some more practice!

As with all competitive sports, debaters require regular and rigorous practice to improve their skills. In this course, students will be:

  • placed in a small group of students, to ensure that everyone gets multiple opportunities to get up and speak over various practice debates;
  • allocated an experienced coach, with many years experience in debating, to provide them with guidance and feedback; and
  • given exposure to various concepts and ideas with the view to improving their understanding of debating as a whole.

Similar to our Practice Debates course, the content of this course changes from holiday to holiday to ensure that no two courses are the same, and that our experienced coaches can tailor the material to the individual circumstances of the students who enroll in any given holiday.  As such, students will gain some new insights and skills every time they undertake this course!
